Welcome!
Here at Bright Start Little School, we do our very best to take care of your child and show them that they are important and loved. Your child’s day will be filled with many fun activities that will stimulate him or her socially, cognitively and emotionally.
Our program helps children to become more independent and self-confident. As they gain self control, they are better able to relate to others and communicate. These are key characteristics that help children to develop lifelong learning skills.

Our
School
Thank you for your interest in our school! When I began Bright Start Little School in 2004, my inspiration was to create a place where children would be inspired, have fun, learn, be loved and feel respected. A place where parents would have peace of mind knowing their children were not just safe but happy.
The more I learn about children, the more I love them and appreciate what they teach me every day. My educational experience includes Childhood Development coursework at the College of Marin, teacher credentials from the State of California, and over ten years working with children. I have also taken workshops at Marin Childcare and participate in various programs for infant and toddlers care. Our school is licensed by the State of California and our staff has CPR training and fingerprint clearance. Our entire staff is committed to providing a loving, fun—and bilingual—environment for children to learn and grow. We help children in their first steps to learning about our wonderful world and help them to build a foundation for academic success and valuable lifelong skills.

The Program
At Bright Start Little School, we think children are happiest when they feel valued for who they are as an individual. When others listen to them, seek out their ideas, and allow them to express themselves, they can truly shine brightest. Our environment allows us to work in small groups with the children and we encourage autonomy and self-control. As the children explore the creative curriculum, they develop a feeling of belonging and enjoyment from contributing to the group. We encourage them to not only explore the classroom activities but also help them to flourish in their relationships with each other and feel a part of our school family.
Each month a special theme is explored with books, cooking, gardening, music and movement, puppets, dress up, clay, arts, math, science and free play. In addition, we make sure the children are provided with good nutrition, rest when they need it, and lots of love. All of this helps build the foundation for the children to develop lifelong skills to help them succeed in life.

Frequently Asked Questions

How large is the school?
Our school is like that perfect bed in Goldilocks – it’s just right. Being small allows us to provide one on one attention. For activities we form small groups according to each child’s age development. We respect each child’s development and help them to develop lifelong skills. We are licensed by the state for 12-14 children per day dependent on their ages
What is your school like?
We are a home-based preschool licensed by the State. We have a happy and bright space with a large outdoor area—a fun setting to explore. and learn!
What types of foods are served?
We serve nutritious meals for lunch and breakfast. We serve milk and water, no juice. We provide organic fruits and vegetables as much as possible and believe that good nutritious meals lead to lifelong healthy eating habits.
Do you have naptime?
For naptime the child can take a nap or just rest and enjoy quiet time. We believe this downtime is important for small children and even if they don’t sleep, it’s important they have this break in their day.
Do you take the children off-site?
Yes, as much as we can. We go for walks to the local library, Farmers Market and Pet Store or just around the neighborhood but always safely and with parent’s permission. We also do Field Trips on weekends with parents.
What do I need to bring for my child?
One complete set of clothing, sunscreen, ointment cream and diapers or pull-ups if need and a snack of your choice. We gladly welcome donations of gently used or new books, tissue, or other supplies we use day to day.
What about your illness policy?
This is something we take seriously and urge our families to as well. We ask our families to please keep sick children home to prevent the spread of illnesses. In the case of something like a mild cold our staff will still work, making sure we wash our hands and take the right precautions. We help the children to wash their hands before meals. We clean our toys and equipment daily with a water based solution and we make sure we have fresh air rather than stuffy, closed up rooms.
What is the discipline policy?
Our method is to use redirection and positive discipline. Once we get to know the child we try to predict situations and deal with them individually. We help the child to find a solution and give them options on how to solve a problem. Sometimes the child will need to regroup. In that case, we will remove the child from the situation until she/he is ready to come back on her/his own. If the child continues to misbehave we will work together with the parents for the best solution. If the safety and well being of the other children and or staff becomes a concern the child may be removed from the program.
